Who we are
Pair Society is operated by Boring Projects LLC ("Pair Society," "we," "us," or "our"). This notice covers information handled through Pair Society's website, account, membership, and shoe care services.
Questions or requests about your information: hello@pairsociety.com.
Information we handle
The information depends on how you use the service. The app is built to handle these categories:
- Account and sign-in
- Your phone number for one-time passcode sign-in, first and last name, email address, account and identity identifiers, and sign-in session information.
- Signup details
- As you go through signup, we save the ZIP code, phone number, name, email address, and pickup address you enter as each step is accepted, even if you don’t finish. We also record which signup steps you reach, your device type, and how you found us, such as an ad campaign, a referring website, or a referral link.
- Pickup and delivery
- The pickup address, date and time window, number of pairs, and any instructions you provide. Staff photograph each pair at intake and may record shoe descriptions, condition, notes, status, and service dates.
- Membership and orders
- Your selected plan, subscription status and dates, credit balance and activity, order number, and cleaning and return status.
- Pickup waitlist
- If our pickup and delivery service is not available at your ZIP code, we collect your email address and ZIP code when you join the waitlist.
- Billing records
- Stripe collects and processes card details through its payment interface. Pair Society keeps billing account, subscription, payment-method references, and payment status information needed to connect billing with your membership.
A photo may include details beyond the shoes, depending on what is visible in the image. Avoid including unrelated people or sensitive information in an upload.
Pickup and delivery waitlist
If our pickup and delivery service is not available at your ZIP code, you can join the waitlist with your email address and ZIP code. We use those details only to tell you when pickup and delivery becomes available there. To be removed, email hello@pairsociety.com.
How we use information
Pair Society uses information to:
- verify a phone number and provide access to an account;
- set up and manage memberships, billing, and cleaning credits;
- manage pickup requests and track shoes through cleaning and return;
- help staff identify shoes and prepare for the requested service;
- send transactional email messages about membership and credit updates;
- understand where interest in our service comes from and improve how signup works;
- follow up by email about a signup you started but didn’t finish;
- send order-update text messages if you opt in; and
- keep records of membership, credit, order, cleaning-status, and message-delivery activity.
- let people on the pickup waitlist know when the service becomes available at their ZIP code.
Text messages
If you opt in to optional order-update texts, we use your phone number to tell you when we collect your shoes and when they’re clean and returning to your door, send one reminder if a return is delayed, ask you to review an order issue, and same-day pickup window reminders. We do not send marketing texts. Message frequency varies; customers usually receive 2–4 messages per order. Message and data rates may apply.
When you make a consent choice, we store your phone number, whether you opted in or out, when you made that choice, and the exact consent wording shown to you. For example, our opt-in wording is: “Text me order updates from Pair Society, like when my shoes are ready. Up to 4 msgs per order. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” We also store opt-out replies and message delivery status.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Who receives information
The app uses service providers to support sign-in, hosting and storage, payments, and transactional messages:
- Supabase supports phone authentication, the application database, and private storage for shoe photos.
- Twilio Verify is used through Supabase Auth to deliver phone verification codes by SMS. Twilio also delivers order-update texts using the phone number and message information needed for delivery.
- Stripe handles membership checkout and billing. Stripe's payment interface collects card details; Pair Society stores billing references and membership or payment status information rather than card details.
- Resend sends transactional emails, including membership and credit updates, using the email address and message information needed for delivery.
- Pair Society staff use service and order information in the operations system to process orders and track shoe status.
Vercel hosts the website. Staff handling pickup and delivery can see the pickup address and instructions needed to collect and return shoes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Cookies and site data
The site uses Supabase authentication cookies to keep you signed in. If you arrive through a referral link, we set a cookie that records who referred you and when. It lasts 30 days and is used only to credit the person or business that referred you if you become a customer. We also set a cookie that gives your browser a random ID for one year, so we can see which signup steps it reaches and keep the signup details you enter together. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and measure page speed without cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
Storage and retention
Account and identity details, membership and billing references, credit and order history, shoe-service records, photos, and provider delivery or event records may be stored in the systems used to operate Pair Society.
We keep information while your account is active and as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. Signup details from a signup you didn’t finish are kept while they are useful for the purposes above. You can ask us to delete your account or your signup details by emailing hello@pairsociety.com.
Privacy choices
You can update your profile and turn text updates on or off in Account settings, or reply STOP to any text. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion, email hello@pairsociety.com. We may need to verify your identity first. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law.
Children and minors
Pair Society is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Service locations
Pair Society is offered in the United States. We and our service providers store and process information in the United States.
